BDO welcomes two new Partners in Sydney & Melbourne

BDO in Australia is excited to announce the appointment of two new partners in its east coast offices.

Daniel Dowell will join BDO on 7 October as a tax partner based out of the Melbourne office, while Delarey Nell will join the firm’s Sydney office on 14 October as an audit and assurance partner.

Daniel joins the firm with over 14 years of professional experience in the Australian tax industry, being recognised for his committed, transparent, and client-centric approach, working closely with clients to understand their needs and providing expert Australian tax advice and relevant insights. He was previously a tax director at PwC.

BDO Melbourne Office Managing Partner, David Garvey, said Daniel’s extensive expertise will significantly enhance the team’s capabilities.

“Daniel's proficiency in Australian and international tax issues, combined with his strong technical knowledge and analytical skills, has made him a key player in advising large corporate taxpayers and inbound and outbound multinationals,” Mr Garvey said.

“Highly regarded in the tax consulting and compliance space, he will go to market nationally as a specialist partner in corporate and international tax.

“His extensive Australian and international experience, diverse portfolio, and strategic approach will significantly strengthen our team and support the growth objectives of our Melbourne tax practice.”

Delarey joins BDO’s Sydney office with over two decades of audit and advisory experience in Australia and international markets, including South Africa, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He was previously a partner at Deloitte and EY.

He specialises in financial services audits and provides innovative solutions across sectors including investment and corporate banking, private equity, commercial property finance, equities, derivatives, futures, and commodity markets.

BDO NSW Office Managing Partner, Grant Saxon, said Delarey’s appointment was indicative of the firm’s growth agenda.

“Delarey’s deep technical knowledge and experience in financial services will bolster our audit team’s offering as we continue to meet demand for excellent audit quality and outstanding audit experience,” said Mr Saxon.

“His history of success in local and international markets demonstrates his ability to work collaboratively with clients and other advisers to manage complex audit services.

“Delarey joins us as our firm continues to grow from strength to strength, and we look forward to tapping on his expertise as we continue to win market share.”

The appointment of both Dan and Delarey follows the recent addition of Paul McDougall and Ridhish Arora as foundation partners of BDO’s expansion into Canberra.

Paul’s focus will be leading the advisory practice in Canberra, while Ridhish will lead the digital and technology offering to the Federal Government
