I really enjoy the collaborative environment and teamwork, as well as the people and conversations. I also value the flexibility that comes with working at BDO because this allows me to provide the best service to my clients while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
What attracted you to work at BDO?
For me, it was the people and the opportunity to join BDO during an exciting period of growth. In my role, it’s not only important for me to be able to grow as an individual but to be able to develop team members. What I find most exciting is creating a legacy for team members.
Do you think BDO lives its values? Which of your personal values aligns with BDO’s values?
I see our values come to life every day. We strive to achieve the best for our clients, and we do so by being human and demonstrating heart as we connect with our team members, clients and the community. I am encouraged to be bold, believing in the value I deliver and differentiating myself to become a leader in our chosen markets.

It is interesting and a lot of fun! People enjoy each other’s company and there is mutual respect. I feel a sense of family. We rejoice and have fun and celebrate what makes us different. We are very much a people-focused firm, and I enjoy helping people along their journeys.
How does BDO support you to achieve your personal aspirations and career goals?
BDO allows me to work autonomously and gives me the flexibility to work either in or out of the office. I have great support from the team, and my work-life balance is respected.
Has working at BDO provided opportunities you wouldn’t get working elsewhere?
BDO has allowed me to work with the team to shape the future of the Tax practice in Perth. I have the autonomy and respect I need to work independently while contributing to the bigger picture and the firm’s growth ambitions.
How do you get to really know your clients, as people?
By simply asking “How are you going?” and “How’s the family” and truly being present in the conversation. I find coffee catch-ups before are a great way to get to know people. I’ll often bring another colleague to help clients expand their network and drive diversity of conversation.
What do you do to ensure you deliver exceptional client service?
I make the time to understand my clients and their business. It’s important to know what’s keeping them up at night, and it’s often not a tax issue. Once I have this understanding, I can think of the issues from the client’s perspective and deliver the best solution. Often, this means bringing in the best people from across BDO.
