5.00 – 5.23 AM
Time to wake up - yes, I am one of those people who set 10 alarms and get up on the last one! I go for a walk most mornings (depending on the weather) with my mini dachshund, Prince.
6.30 AM
We’re back home where I feed Prince and get ready for work. I tend to meal prep my food the night before to save me time in the mornings.
7.25 AM
I have a coffee machine at home so once I have made my takeaway coffee, I give Prince a little goodbye cuddle along with some extra treats (yes… he is spoilt) and drive to work.
8.00 AM
I arrive at work, say my good mornings to my fellow work colleagues and make my prepacked breakfast. I feel so valued and appreciated working at BDO. I work in a great team who are always so supportive and appreciative of my work.
8.30 AM
Work begins for the day. Each morning, I read through my emails to see if anything urgent has popped up. Depending on what I find, I update our team’s workflow spreadsheet and write myself a ‘to do list’ on what I want to get done for the day. I am a big fan of ‘to do lists’ and find this helps keep me on track with my jobs and what needs to be done.
8.45 AM
I commence working on my tasks for the day. This can range from preparing income tax returns and financial statements, activity statements or reading up on tax legislation for a particular job. Each day tends to be different!
10.00AM
Time for one of our monthly morning teas. My favourite part about working at BDO is the work family we have and the culture here. I love these morning teas where we get to interact with colleagues and especially colleagues who I don’t particularly work with.
11.00 AM
It’s time for our weekly team workflow meeting. Our team has a workflow meeting every Monday at 11.00am to see where everyone is at with their jobs list, what jobs are a priority and what support we need to stay on top of deadlines.
11.30 AM
Back to our desks to continue working on a set of financial statements. As there is still some outstanding information required, I draft up an email with all my queries outlined and send to my partner to review and send to the client.
12.30 PM
Time for lunch! Most days I spend my lunch in the breakout room with my colleagues. We also organise regular outings for lunch at different cafes on a Friday or an occasional weekday.
1.30 PM
When I return to my desk, I have another quick look at my emails to see if anything has popped up whilst I’ve been at lunch. Nothing has popped up, so I continue to work down my to do list. I have some activity statements to complete that I prepare every quarter for my managers/partner.
5.00 PM
Work is finished for the day! I pack up what I have been working on and make sure my desk is neat and tidy before heading to the gym. I cannot stand having a messy desk so I make sure my desk is neat and tidy at all times!
5.30PM
I head to the gym for a 6.00 pm class. I go to a CrossFit gym so the workouts are always challenging but very FUN!!
10.00 PM
After arriving home, feeding Prince, preparing dinner, organising myself for the next day and either watching a TV series or doing some CA study, it’s time to call it a day. Goodnight!
