Sadleirs sells Plantagenet wines

Deal typeM&A
IndustryAgriculture
Client nameLionel Samson Sadleirs Group

Western Australia’s oldest family business, Lionel Samson Sadleirs Group has sold its wine business. The buyers include Tom Wisdom and his wife Joanne. Tom is a descendant of the founders of the Sadleirs Group. A number of vineyards were also acquired by the Fogarty Wine Group, the largest wine producer in Western Australia.

Plantagenet is based in the Great Southern wine region and comprises a vertically integrated wine producing business, including mature vineyards over 90 hectares. Sadleirs identified Plantagenet as non-core to its business, which is primarily logistics focussed, and as such, made a strategic decision to divest the business.

BDO in Perth was engaged by Sadleirs to undertake an assessment of options available, from which the board chose a sale as the most preferable option. Our team identified, screened and approached suitable targets, secured a number of attractive offers for the business, and project managed the transaction to completion, achieving a sale price in excess of the client’s initial expectation.

We would like take this opportunity to call out how impressed we were with both documents. Exceptional quality and paint a very compelling picture.
