Project description
The Brisbane Live is a proposed 18,000 seat indoor arena spanning the eastern side of the over-station redevelopment of the Roma Street Station. The Brisbane Live precinct is proposed to include restaurants, bars, outdoor amphitheatres and cinemas offering multiple entertainment options for patrons.
BDO's role
BDO was engaged by CRRDA to be the financial and commercial adviser to the pre-feasibility study for Brisbane Live. During this engagement, BDO provided the following services:
- Conducted market and industry research to ascertain appropriate operating revenue and cost assumption benchmarks for indoor arenas
- Developed a financial model for the Brisbane Live Arena that incorporated:
- Operating revenue and cost assumptions, based on the results of our research
- Construction, lifecycle and maintenance cost assumptions
- Other information made available to us by CRRDA and its other advisors
- Provided an overview of the delivery model options that are available for procuring the Brisbane Live Arena.
BDO was also later engaged to be a financial and commercial peer reviewer of the Brisbane Live business case prepared by Building Queensland. During this engagement BDO provided the following services:
- Reviewed assumptions and calculation methodology in the underlying financial model for appropriateness and correctness
- Reviewed business case chapters for completeness and for correct application of the Business Case Development Framework issued by Building Queensland.
